Sample Project - Develop a Volunteer Orientation

Tell us about your organization: We are a large nonprofit providing services to those at risk in our community from preschool to the elderly.
Project Title: Develop a Volunteer Orientation
Time commitment: Smaller project, estimated hours between 40-60, to be completed within 2 months of start date. Flexible hours.
Work Environment/Location: ~ 50% of time at nonprofit location (address), 50% from home.
Project Description: Our large nonprofit utilizes many volunteers across many different programs from assisting in a preschool to fixing and serving lunch at our adult day center. Today, our volunteer orientation is managed by each program independently. While the specifics of each area and the detailed training must be completed based on the individual program's needs and operations, the overall education of our nonprofit and mission and the value of our volunteers must be delivered in a consistent and engaging manner.
Key Deliverables:
- Working with our leadership team, develop the key messages to communicate to new (or potential) volunteers to provide an orientation to our nonprofit.
- Propose a plan as to content, media, delivery, timing, etc for the volunteer orientation.
- Create the training/orientation.
- Communicate the availability/process to our staff.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required: Strong marketing perspective, excellent oral and written communications skills, experience with training.
Education/Experience: At least 5 years of experience in marketing, communications or training. Experience with project management.
Resources: Access to our leadership team individually and as a staff will be provided. There is a small budget available for content. Desk space and a PC will be provided when working onsite.
